Hi Ryan, it’s just awesome to meet you. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me today. I was wondering why you think organised sport or exercise in general is so important?
Ryan Betts
Organised sport and exercise in general is so important as it allows you to keep fit and healthy, and therefore keep you feeling happy and good about yourself. It also allows you to meet new people, see and do new things and most importantly have fun with friends.

Captain Capsicum:
Who has been the toughest opponent?
Ryan Betts
My toughest opponent would have to be Queensland, whenever we play them it is always a tough match and I never want to lose to them.

Captain Capsicum:
What about your worst injury?
Ryan Betts
I have been lucky when it comes to injuries to not have had a major injury yet, but my worst injury would have had to been a broken foot which was in the off season and didn’t effect my hockey.

Captain Capsicum:
What do you think has been your biggest achievement in sport?
Ryan Betts
My biggest achievement in sport would have to making the Australian team and being able to represent Australia in another country. That can’t be topped.

Captain Capsicum:
Have you ever had a losing streak?
Ryan Betts
No, I have never had a losing streak. Losing only makes me more determined and I really hate to lose.

Captain Capsicum:
How do you overcome these bad times?
Ryan Betts
I overcome the bad times by playing sport. When I am playing sport I forget about everything else and just enjoy playing and enjoy being around mates.

Captain Capsicum:
What are your favourite fruits?
Ryan Betts
I am definitely a rockmelon man.

Captain Capsicum:
What are you favourite vegetables?
Ryan Betts
I can’t go past carrot or potato.

Captain Capsicum:
What is your favourite food in general?
Ryan Betts
My favourite food in general would have to be mum’s homemade lasagne

If you hadn’t turned out to be such a legend athlete, what do you think you would have chosen as a career?
Ryan Betts
Well sport isn’t something that can make a living from, I will stop playing sport and will always be trying to achieve but I have always wanted to be a builder.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Ryan Betts
In my spare time my favourite thing to do is sleep and watch family guy.

Who is your hero?
Ryan Betts
My hero’s have always been my coaches, they always have time for me and go out of there way to help me achieve my goals.

Do you have any nicknames?
Ryan Betts
My nickname is BETTSY.

What do you think is the best thing about playing sport
Ryan Betts
The best thing about playing sport is doing something you love and enjoy with mates.

Captain Capsicum:
What is your favourite motto?
Ryan Betts
I don’t have a motto but if I did it would be “go hard or go home” and “just have fun”.
