Summa Strawberry loves netball and was thrilled when she learnt of her new assignment – to interview Megan Anderson the Sydney TAB Swifts Co-Vice Captain.
Summa Strawberry:
Hi Megan, it’s so great to finally meet you. You’re such an amazing netballer, can you tell us what do you think is the best thing about playing sport?
Megan Anderson:
Hi Summa, it’s nice to meet you too. I would definitely say that the best thing is the friend’s you make, the travel, the training and the rush you get from playing a great game and winning.
Summa Strawberry:
Winning would definitely be a good thing! What do you think has been your biggest achievement in sport?
Megan Anderson:
Making the Australian Team and also winning the 2001 Commonwealth Bank Trophy Grand Final with the Swifts.
Summa Strawberry:
They are huge achievements. So who has been your toughest opponent?
Megan Anderson:
Probably Kathryn Harby-Williams (former Australian Captain), as she always makes you think on the court.
Summa Strawberry:
What about your worst every injury?
Megan Anderson:
Broken toe – pretty boring hey? It was broken in 3 places though!
Summa Strawberry:
I’ve been told that broken bones hurt a lot! Have you ever had a losing streak?
Megan Anderson:
Not that I can think of, although would a year and a half of not making the Australian team counts?
Summa Strawberry:
I’m not sure if it counts because there are so many amazing players! Have you got any tips on how you overcome these bad times?
Megan Anderson:
I play because I love playing, making or not making these teams doesn’t change that, although it does make the training a little more worth it.
Summa Strawberry:
If you hadn’t turned out to be so good at netball, what do you think you would have chosen to do as a career?
Megan Anderson:
I have absolutely no idea, probably something in sport anyway, I always liked the outdoors.
Summa Strawberry:
Do you have any spare time in between training and what do you like to do in it?
Megan Anderson:
Relax, hang out with my boyfriend, try new restaurants and sleep!
Summa Strawberry:
Talking about restaurants, can you please tell us what is your favourite foods are?
Megan Anderson:
Fruit and veggies definitely if I’m eating at home. Eating out, I love Vietnamese and most Asian varieties (except Chinese).
Summa Strawberry:
I’m so glad to hear that you love fruit and vegies - what are your favourite fruits?
Megan Anderson:
Just about everything could get a mention here but I’ll say mangoes.
Summa Strawberry:
I love mangoes too, but of course strawberries are my favourite!!!! So what are your favourite vegetables?
Megan Anderson:
Just about everything could also get a mention here, although I think fresh corn on the cob would be the winner!
Summa Strawberry:
Definitely fresh corn – yum!!!! Talking about food is making me hungry – lets change the subject. Do you have any nicknames?
Megan Anderson:
Angry, because my last name is Anderson and because I rarely get angry
Summa Strawberry:
I’m glad to hear that you don’t get angry very often!! Have you got any special heroes or anyone you look up to?
Megan Anderson:
Two netballers - Sue Kenny and Nicole Cusack.
Summa Strawberry:
They are great role models. Do you have a favourite motto?
Megan Anderson:
"If you enjoy what you are doing, you can always find time for whatever you want to do"
Summa Strawberry:
Wow, that’s why I will always find the time to interview amazing sports people like you. Megan thank you very much and best of luck with the rest of the season! |
