Captain Capsicum:
Who has been your toughest rival?
Kirsten:
I have had many tough rivals over my seven year career. But if winning was easy, it wouldn't be exciting.

Captain Capsicum:
What about your worst every injury?
Kirsten:
I have been lucky never to have had an injury. I did have chicken pox last year though. It wasn't much fun.

Captain Capsicum:
What do you think has been your biggest achievement in swimming?
Kirsten:
My biggest achievement in swimming would definitely be swimming at the Olympics Games in Sydney and winning an Olympic silver medal in the womens 4x200mrelay.

Captain Capsicum:
Have you ever had a losing streak?
Kirsten:
Everyone goes through tough times. I guess you could say I am going through one now. I have found juggling my HSC and swimming really difficult. I have had to cut down on my training for a couple of months.

Captain Capsicum:
How do you overcome bad times such as losing streaks or constant injury?
Kirsten:
My friends and family always support me. I am always looking to the future and never looking back. I think the most important thing is that you learn from your mistakes.

Captain Capsicum:
What are your favourite fruits?
Kirsten:
I love strawberries, pineapple and bananas.

Captain Capsicum:
So what are your favourite vegetables?
Kirsten:
Beans and potatoes.

Captain Capsicum:
What is your favourite food in general?
Kirsten:
Icecream

Captain Capsicum:
You are an Olympian and currently completing your final year at high school. What is in store for the future career wise?
Kirsten:
I can't wait to finish school! I really want to focus on swimming for a couple of years. I also want to go to university part time and do a media/communications course. Most importantly, I want to enjoy what I am doing.

Captain Capsicum:
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Kirsten:

Other than school work, I enjoy going to the movies, shopping and parties. I also really enjoy listening to music.

Captain Capsicum:
Who is your hero?
Kirsten:
Since I was little I have really admired Susie O'Neill. Not only for her outstanding performances, but also for the way she carries herself.

Captain Capsicum:
Do you have any nicknames?
Kirsten:
Thommo

Captain Capsicum:
What do you think is the best thing about playing sport?
Kirsten:
The amazing friendships you make and the incredible places you get to go. I could not have asked for a better life.

Captain Capsicum:
What is your favourite motto?
Kirsten:
1. Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. 2. The harder you work, the luckier you get.

Captain Capsicum:
What was the best thing about competing in the Sydney Olympic Games?
Kirsten:

The entire two weeks were unforgettable. I met some incredible people and saw some unbelievable sporting performances. I lived for my sporting dream and it inspires me for the future.

Dreams do come true!
