Oscar Orange was pretty excited and a little nervous about interviewing Kyla Bremner, as he’d never met a real wrestler before….

Oscar Orange:
Kyla thanks so much for letting me ask you the tough questions so I will start by asking you who has been the toughest opponent?
Kyla Bremner:
They’re all tough in wrestling!

Oscar Orange:
I’ve seen some wrestling and it’s definitely a contact sport! Have you had a really bad injury?
Kyla Bremner:
Iliotibial Band Syndrome - an ongoing repetitive ligament injury that stops me from being able to run. It’s very frustrating!

Oscar Orange:
Wow sounds pretty serious – the things we do for our love of sport! So what do you think has been your biggest achievement in sport?
Kyla Bremner:
Winning the Australian Nationals and going to the World Championships

Oscar Orange:
That’s pretty amazing isn’t it. Have you ever had a losing streak?
Kyla Bremner:
Yes

Oscar Orange:
I guess everyone does don’t they – so how do you overcome these bad times?
Kyla Bremner:
I try not to take it too seriously. I focus harder on training and have confidence that working on weaknesses will result in the necessary improvements in performance.

Oscar Orange:
That’s awesome advice – I might try to apply it to other areas of my life like homework. You must need plenty of energy to wrestle, do you have any favourite fruits?
Kyla Bremner:
Mangoes, all berries (especially raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries). I also love bananas, pears, pineapples, peaches, apricots and nectarines. Actually I love all fruit!!

Oscar Orange:
Wow that’s incredible. I was going to say you’d forgotten to say oranges, but if you love all fruit oranges must be included – lucky!! So what are your favourite vegetables?
Kyla Bremner:
Corn, beetroot, sweet potato, baby bok choy, zucchini, asparagus, mushrooms, cabbage, eggplant, tomatoes, beans, peas. Actually I eat almost everything.

Oscar Orange:
You must be ultra healthier – no wonder you do so well! What is your favourite food in general?
Kyla Bremner:
I love fresh berries and mangoes, I also love fresh seafood and yoghurt.

Oscar Orange:
If you hadn’t turned out to be such a legend athlete, what do you think you would have chosen to do as a career?
Kyla Bremner:
I’m in medical school so that’s my back up career.

Oscar Orange:
Nothing like a high achiever! I can’t imagine you have much, but what do you like to do in your spare time?
Kyla Bremner:
Rock climbing in the Blue Mountains. I also like to read books.

Oscar Orange:
Wow you’re really active aren’t you. You’re such an inspiration - do you have anyone who really inspires you, or who is your hero?
Kyla Bremner:
I don’t think I have one, but there are many people whose achievements I admire and whose integrity I respect.

Oscar Orange:
What do you think is the best thing about playing sport?
Kyla Bremner:
Feeling active and healthy. Also, it’s fun and it gives a huge feeling of satisfaction to get a move right or master a new technique.

Oscar Orange:
It’s pretty cool to be active and healthy and you’re obviously a great example of that. What is your favourite motto?
Kyla Bremner:
Cool bananas.

Oscar Orange:
Very cool! Kyla thanks so much for taking the time to talk to me today. You’re an awesome example of someone who’s really fit and healthy and can I say you’ve definitely inspired me to try wrestling, although I think if I get a really tough opponent I might just become orange juice…..
