Tamara Tomato was so excited to be interviewing Ben - Winner of the 2005 Sydney Markets Sport Scholarship - here’s what they talked about when they met:
Tamara Tomato:
Hi Ben, thanks for taking the time out to speak to us today. You must have had some awesome moments in your sporting career, what was the most memorable?
Ben Guest:
Representing Australia in the World Mountain Running Trophy in Wellington, New Zealand last September and finishing 11th in the Juniors this was the best ever finish by an Australian Male.
Tamara Tomato:
Wow that sounds impressive; there are loads of fun things about playing sport. What do think is the best thing about playing sport?
Ben Guest:
It’s a healthy outdoor and fun lifestyle that I enjoy doing and also keeps me very fit.
Tamara Tomato:
I’m sure all that exercise would keep you fit! What do you do in your spare time?
Ben Guest:
All my spare time is taken up with Training, School and the Beach.
Tamara Tomato:
You’re a real busy guy! You’d have to have a lot of healthy food to keep your energy levels up. Tell me, what is your favourite fruit?
Ben Guest:
Mangoes, Strawberries and Bananas.
Tamara Tomato:
Yummy! That sounds great. I’m sure you would have a favourite vegetable too?
Ben Guest:
Yes, I do – Pumpkin.
Tamara Tomato:
I like pumpkins too. Do you have any nicknames Ben?
Ben Guest:
Guesty.
Tamara Tomato:
Yep, I can see that one applying. What was the worst injury you’ve had?
Ben Guest:
I Injured my groin 4 weeks before National track this year.
Tamara Tomato:
Ouch! That would have hurt! I guess all sporting people have some injuries. Talking about sporting people, do you have a hero?
Ben Guest:
Yes - Craig Mottram because he is leading the way for Australian distance running.
Tamara Tomato:
Do you have a personal motto?
Ben Guest:
Live the dream.
Tamara Tomato:
That’s a good motto. What’s your ultimate goal?
Ben Guest:
To represent Australia at the Olympics and World Championships and win lots of medals.
Tamara Tomato:
