Avocados
Avocados can take 2-5 days to fully ripen at room temperature.
To speed up ripening, place fruit in a brown paper bag with a banana.
An avocado is ripe and ready to eat when it yields to gentle pressure at the stem end.

Bananas
Bananas ripen rapidly in warm weather.
Bananas are ready to eat when their skin loses its green colouring - black markings may develop on the skin as the fruit ripens.
Buy bananas when they are at different stages of ripeness so fruit does not all ripen at once.
